Parish of Penrith Health & Safety Information

Parish Health & Safety Overview

As a Parish we understand that we owe a duty of care to those who worship in, visit, or use our churches and the parts of our churchyards for which we are legally responsible. We also understand that, where we are an employer or control premises in certain circumstances, we must meet the requirements of health and safety (H&S) law.

We will ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that our activities are carried out safely and do not pose a risk to the health of our employees, volunteers, congregations, visitors and others who may use the church premises. This will be in accordance with good practice and any relevant statutory provisions.

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) accepts its overall responsibility for H&S and   will  ensure that adequate resources are made available.

With effect from 1st January 24 we have appointed Dr Judith Irwin, an experienced   member of our fellowship, to  advise PCC on H&S matters.
